Overview
The Aberdeen Business School (ABS) at Robert Gordon University aspires to create international business leaders who have the ability to visualise future changes and prepare their businesses for the challenges ahead. To achieve this, the School uses a practical and international approach to business and management education and delivers it through highly acclaimed teaching techniques.The School includes five departments which focus on the major aspects of management education namely:
- accounting, finance and economics
- communication, marketing and media
- information management
- law
- management
The School offers one of the strongest portfolios of accredited and recognised postgraduate courses which can be pursued full-time, part-time or online through a distance learning programme. The School’s MBA programme is also the first such Scottish programme to be accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA).
Aberdeen Business School offers a supportive and stimulating research environment which encourages students to actively participate in research activities and publications. The School is also involved in an exciting range of externally funded research projects. Research qualifications awarded by the School include MPhil, PhD, DBA and DInfSc.
Academic faculty at the School consists of scholars who have academic qualifications as well as relatable professional experience. They also interact with businesses and industries constantly so as to maintain industry relevance in programme content and teaching methods. The School also organises many seminars and lectures with participation from foreign scholars and business leaders to widen the students’ perspective of international business.
Facilities on offer are in line with the school’s status of being an international business education provider. Set amidst the scenic surroundings of Garthdee campus, the School is housed in a state-of-the-art building designed by the renowned architect Norman Foster. The building includes large lecture theatres, many seminar rooms, executive education rooms and an excellent moot court. The School also possesses modern telecasting and broadcasting equipment to train media students in the latest technologies. There are also extensive computer facilities with Wi-Fi access available throughout the School.
Postgraduate students at the School can benefit from a range of scholarships and funding instituted by the School and the University.
The School also runs a placement office which works throughout the year to place students on all courses in regional, national and international companies.
